North Cairns Australian Football & Sporting Club was officially opened in 1965 and as a club we have always regarded ourselves as one club both Seniors and Juniors supporting each other through the season on and off the field.
North Cairns Tigers prides itself on the values it supports, its strong sense of community, competitiveness and our love of AFL …… but most importantly we seek to provide a safe and learning environment in which all our members can enjoy what junior sport should be about ….. having fun!!!
Over the years we have watched our juniors develop and mature to play senior football.
North Cairns Australian Football & Sporting Club is “managed by the community for the community” and we are all volunteers. Obviously, we have lots of roles but sharing the work around and working with the Club Executive makes everyone’s role more manageable.
You can help by for example:
- Coordinators for each age group
- Team Managers
- Canteen coordinator
- Junior Volunteer coordinator
- Fund raising committee
- Ground setup, goal umpires, runners, boundary umpires
- Assist with canteen shifts occasionally
We ask ALL parents to participate in running this sporting experience with your children, and abide with the Parent/Coach Code of Conduct.
Fun, Participation and Development are the key words in the operation of our teams. This, and the strong support of the AFL Cairns Juniors, the body under which we compete, ensures our players are afforded equal opportunity to train and play our great game. This is a fundamental aspect of our Club’s philosophy.
In the Junior Grades (Under 8 – Under 11) equal participation is mandatory.
In the Youth Grades (Under 13 – Under 15) there is a focus on development of skills.
The Girls U 17.5’s focus on skills development and are trained by our Senior Women.
Our Under17.5 are young men even though they come under the juniors will be coached and trained by the senior body.
